AnandSoft.Com HTTPS Update

Anand Software and Training recently updated the company website anandsoft.com to Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) by using secure certificate. HTTPS is secure version of regular HTTP (short for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol), the protocol of the Internet, over which millions of users access the web servers worldwide. The ‘S’ at the end of HTTPS stands for ‘Secure’. HTTPS protocol offers end-to-end transmission encryption and no one in between would be able to hack the data being trasferred between your computer and the website. In earlier days, https (often used in small letters) was used only with transaction oriented websites such as banks, ecom, and government websites. However, these days most of the websites are supporting https due to privacy and security concerns.  Given below are some of the advantages of using https protocol over http:

  • Improved Search Engine Ranking: Google, Bing and other search engines stated that https is a ranking signal and the sites with https protocol are given some preference over non-https sites.
  • Referrer URL: When a secure referrer is provided to non-secure site, the referrer URL is lost. By using https, referrer data is preserved, which may be used in website analytics.
  • Privacy and Security: As mentioned earlier, https offers secure communication protecting the user data being sent to and from the web server. By using https, a secure tunnel is formed between user computer and the website and all the information flowing between the client and sever are secure and encrypted.

Web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome also display a green padlock icon in the address bar to visually indicate that a HTTPS connection is in effect.  It encrypts all communication, including URLs. A yellow padlock is displayed if the page contains non secure links such as images hosted using just http.

Given below are the best practices when switching to HTTPS:

  • There are several types of certificates for use with a website. Decide the type of certificate you need: single, multi-domain, or wildcard certificate
  • Use 2048-bit key certificates where possible
  • Use relative URLs for resources that reside on the same secure domain
  • Use protocol relative URLs for all other domains
  • Don’t block your HTTPS site from crawling using robots.txt
  • Subscribe to Google Analytics (often called GA) to track your HTTP to HTTPS migration carefully in your analytics software and within Google Webmaster Tools (often called GWT).
  • Remember to provide permanent redirects from http to https URLs using htaccess file.
  • Submit you revised sitemal.xml so that Google and other search engines get the new map of your website.

There might be slight dip in your website traffic during transition period which is most likely to get back after all the new URLs are crawled and indexed properly. Check out for any Google emails suggesting any difficulty with crawling your website.

Check out the new secure anandsoft.com and leave your comments with webmaster at anandsoft.com.

Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018

JEEMAIN-2018

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has notified following two changes in the JEE pattern from 2017:

1. There shall be no weightage for the 12th class marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE (Main) examination,

2. For the candidates to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

The States of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland, Odisha & some other institutions have joined JEE (Main) system, however, their admission criteria will be notified by the concerned authorities. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State level examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main)–2018 application form online. The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.

Since there is no weightage of class 12th marks in calculation of ranks in JEE (Main) – 2018, so, the roll number of class 12th is not verified this year by the CBSE, however, the candidates have to show the marksheet of class 12th (regular/improvement) with 75% marks at the reporting centres at the time of counselling/admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs and other CFTIs.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Candidates of JEE (Main) – 2018 have to apply online only. There is no printed application form for JEE(Main).
2. Please ensure that you are filling genuine application form available online at JEE (Main) website (www.jeemain.nic.in).
3. Please ensure your eligibility as per the criteria laid down for JEE (Main), JEE (Advanced) and participating State Institutions (as applicable).
4. The JEE (Main) secretariat/CBSE is only an examination conducting body. After declaration of result the data is handed over to SEAT ALLOCATION BOARD or the concerned state government/institute for Seat Allocation Process and admission procedure. The JEE (Main) Secretariat/CBSE does not collect the information regarding total number of seats available in the institutions and reservation criteria followed
by the institutions.
5. All the candidates who have submitted the online application and paid the examination fee till last date will be allowed to appear in JEE (Main) and their admit cards will be uploaded on the website as per schedule. The JEE (Main) secretariat/CBSE do neither verify the information filled by the candidates in the application form nor verify any certificate of category/educational qualification for deciding the eligibility of candidates. The certificates of educational qualification and category (if applied under reserved category) will be verified by the concerned institution. The candidates are, therefore, advised to ensure their eligibility and the category (if applying under reserved category). The CBSE will, in no way, be responsible for any wrong/incorrect information furnished by the candidate(s) in their online application form. The letter/e-mails in this regard will not be entertained by JEE (Main) Secretariat/CBSE.
6. The use of Aadhaar for the candidates of JEE (Main) 2018 will result in accuracy of the candidates’ details. This will also help in ascertaining identities of the candidates at the examination centres in a convenient and hassle free manner. Aadhaar obviates the need for producing multiple documents to prove one’s identity.
7. The provisions of the Aadhaar Act and Regulations under the Act have come into effect from 14th September 2016 and notifications to this effect have been published in the Official Gazette. Section 57 of the Aadhaar Act 2016 permits the use of Aadhaar number for establishing the identity of an individual for any purpose pursuant to any law or any contract to this effect.
8. Accordingly, CBSE has decided to use Aadhaar for the candidates of JEE (Main) 2018, and hereby notifies the following:
7.1 Candidates, who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender in online application for JEE(Main) 2018 for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof.
7.2 Candidates not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, are hereby required to make application for Aadhaar enrolment in case he/she is entitled to obtain Aadhaar as per section 3 of Aadhaar Act. Such applicant may visit any Aadhaar enrolment centre (list available at www.uidai.gov.in) to get enrolled for Aadhaar.
7.3 The candidates who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received Aadhaar should enter 14 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID (Including slash) printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip at the time of filling online application form for JEE(Main) 2018.
8. The above provisions shall be applicable in all states except J&K, Assam & Meghalaya.
9. The candidates who have passed or appearing in Class XII examination from the states of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. identity number provided they should select the city of examination in these states only.
